Introduction

The third course in the DHTI (Digital Home Technology Integration) series is Security Access Control, & Surveillance. This course focuses on integrating all types systems within the home. Students will learn about cameras, alarm systems, motion detectors and wired/wireless security systems.

Security System Sensors and Detectors

The first section of Heathkit’s Security, Access Control and Surveillance course focuses on the three main parts that make a basic alarm system; the sensor, controller and annunciator. Students are introduced to the variety of sensors available today, and learn what or how things are detected that triggers the sensors.

Security and Fire Alarm Components

Students will learn key components of these subsystems, as well as maintenance and how to troubleshoot the systems.

Video Surveillance and Access Control

Many of us experience card readers and/or CCTV (closed circuit television) in our daily lives. It may be a CCTV surveillance camera found at our local bank, or a card reader at our office building allowing us access in certain areas. This course outlines the wide variety of cameras and card readers available today for installation, as well as the use the biometrics in security systems. Such knowledge enables a DHTI installer to provide the best security solution for their customers.
